Sport : L'Etape du Tour

L'ɴape Du Tour Velo Magazine 2006 will once again be an opportunity for close to 8,500 enthusiastic amateurs, to discover the roads of the best riders.
The meeting is set for Monday the 10th of July. And it'll concern one of the toughest stages of the 2006 Tour de France: Gap >> L'Alpe d'Huez.

There is a great write up here... http://www.rapha.cc/index.php?page=183
I have plotted the course on Virtual Earth here

It therefore is the turn of the Hautes-Alpes and Is貥 area to welcome the 14th edition of the most prestigious cyclo-sporting event in France. The capital city of the Hautes-Alpes, GAP, will host the start of the event before heading after 187 km to the ski resort of L'ALPE D?HUEZ, the oldest mountain finish site of the Tour.

An intense and fascinating stage on a course designed for the best riders in the World where the toughest climbs will have to be cleared. The most passionate amateurs should all be present to try and cope with the difficulties of the day including the Col d'Izoard (2,360 m), the Col du Lautaret (2,058 m), and of course the famous climb up the Alpe d'Huez (1,860 m) with its famous 21 turns.

Like for the previous years, the Host-Village (Village Accueil) will be open on Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of July, in GAP, to welcome the many competitors. Each rider will be able to collect their bib and all the necessary information on the race.
