Sport : Wales Mountain Biking

Time to get the training started for The CAPE EPIC in February 2004. Since the other member of the No T.I.T.S team (Stu Slater) is in Cape Town I dragged Peej, Paul and Tony out for some great biking in Southern Wales.

We left early on Saterday morning and by 10:00 we were on our bikes on the trails at Cwm Carn. It was a great 15km ride that woke up the legs and prepared them for the next stop which was to be Afan Forest Park.

We were hoping there would be a bike shop out there so we could test ride some new bikes, but although the setup there is great, there were only hardtails for hire. Paul and Tony deceid to try find some bikes in Swansea while Peej and I headed of on the Penhyd Trail, 22km of great climbs and singletrack.

We joined up with the guys at our B&B and after a great supper at the local - and a huge steak - we hit the sack in preparation for Sundays ride on The Wall.

The rides were all great and it was good to be on mountain bike specific trails were we could burn down the singeltrack without worrying about a horse or walkers coming the other way!
